An update on the status of a selection of current and recent projects being managed by Perry Town Planning in October 2016, includes the following:

Retail Monitors

Perry Town Planning continue to complete market research, monitor planning and development activity and housing stock projections for a multinational property and infrastructure company. The monitoring is focused around specific assets to be able to assist the group to forecast commercial developments, forecasting impacts to assets/sales plus providing planning services to be able to comment on proposals in the area.

Amendments and Panel Reports

Perry Town Planning continue to monitor proposed amendments to planning schemes in the areas of Bayside, Macedon Ranges and City of Monash to list a few. Perry Town Planning are acting on behalf of interested parties who are for and against proposed amendments. Work includes the assessment of proposed amendments, submissions to Council and the Planning Panel on behalf of the client and monitoring the process through all stages.

VCAT in Melbourne and regional Victoria

Perry Town Planning have acted for both permit applicants and objector parties on a variety of VCAT appeals, providing professional VCAT representation or in conjunction with legal teams for metropolitan sites in Albert Park, Sandringham, Beaumaris, Briar Hill and Werribee. This has included instructing expert witnesses and barristers.

A decision from VCAT is imminent for a proposed four-dwelling development in the rural township of Woodend, north of Melbourne. Perry Town Planning have worked closely with the applicant from inception, managing the Planning Application process, through to lodging a VCAT appeal after Council failed to make a decision within the required time frame, and represented the client over the course of a two-day hearing. Expert evidence was called for the applicant in the fields of urban design, traffic and landscape architecture.

Fire-damaged dwellings

Of late, Perry Town Planning have been partnering with a building company and insurance firms in regards to the reinstatement of fire-damaged dwellings. Locations include Plenty, Euroa, Carlton North, Brunswick, Wye River and Separation Creek.

Property Investigations – for interstate and local developers

Preliminary Planning Reports have been undertaken for the purpose of understanding the development potential of individual sites, whilst assessing planning controls including zones, overlays, local planning policy and state planning policy. Furthermore, the site and surrounds, neighbourhood characteristics and nearby developments are all analysed to be able to provide the client with an understanding of the strengths, risks and development potential of a site.

Commercial and Educational projects

A permit has recently been granted for a ‘Fitness Studio’ in Collingwood. An application for a Music School in Springvale South is also to be lodged in the near future. Both of these projects have required project management by Perry Town Planning to liaise with specialist consultants and Council to make the application process as smooth as possible.

Industrial projects

A permit has recently been granted for an industrial use in Laverton South. Perry Town Planning initially provided planning advice before engagement to undertake the application process for amending and endorsing plans to coincide with the permit.

A separate application includes an industrial use in Dandenong South, which will be an economic benefit to the City of Greater Dandenong. Differing from the regular planning permit process, Perry Town Planning have liaised with state government bodies to facilitate for the assessment of the design and application.
